Bowling Green Memories...

BOWLING GREEN MADE ME SICK !!!
by Ken Krebs

When I was a kid, 12 or so, we lived about 1-1/2 miles from Bowling Green Speedway. My Dad and I often attended the Saturday night and Sunday races; Mom wasn't into racing but Dad could always find an excuse to go.

I don't remember too many of the drivers, but I would say Marlet Naill was the original "Terminator." He had a knack for bumping the favorite car into the fence. The next week more people would show up to see Marlet.

I entered a bicycle race there one day. There were about 25-30 bikes in the race; one lap around the track. The first 5 entries won money so of course I finished 6th. My prize was a free hot dog. About 3:00 a.m. the next morning I got deathly sick, scared my parents to death. They took me to the doctor who said it was probably food poisoning.

I'm now 65 and for Christmas last year my wife gave me the Bowling Green video and the last 7 programs; sure did bring back memories.
